Austin Community College`s Welding program provides hands-on training that will give you the ability to master a variety of techniques and advanced skills. Some techniques include shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and flux-cored arc welding. Some advanced skills include blueprint interpreting, fabrication, ultrasonic testing, welding inspection, and more. Students have access to state of the art equipment and machinery. Students have a chance to build professional relationships with industry professionals.
There is a high demand in this field including metal workers. There are also opportunities to seek work in fields including construction, engineering, oil and gas, manufacturing and industrial inspection.
Eligibility Requirements
- This program is designed for rising high school juniors
- Complete high school introductory Welding courses with a minimum grade of a “C”.
- “TSI complete” standing is not required.
Program Requirements
- Earn at least a C in each ACC course.
- Maintain an overall ACC grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
